Some of the most prominent iBuyer companies in the home buying field have announced that they are not purchasing homes during the COVID19 crisis. On March 18, Redfin announced that its home buying program, Redfin Now, will temporarily pause making offers on homes. Last week, Zillow Offers announced the same. The four main iBuyers in the market – including Open Door and Offerpad – have now all halted their services.
The restrictions on movement and stay-at-home orders that have been put in place by state and local governments to fight the spread of Coronavirus has put a damper on real estate activities. In most places, sellers are not able to perform the necessary activities to prepare their house for sale on the market, such as staging and taking photos.
